Our pool at Makrugu offers sweeping views of the surrounding bushveld, providing the perfect place to unwind while enjoying frequent visits from resident zebra, giraffe, warthog and impala, along with smaller wildlife such as mongoose and Franklin birds. It’s an ideal setting to relax and cool off during warm summer afternoons.

Feeding the Animals
Feed only Game feed such as pellets and Lucerne available in local shops at Daisy den and Bush Centre. Do not feed animals any other food that can cause sickness, harm and danger to them.
Safety Precautions
It is important to respect the animals and maintain a safe distance. Even seemingly docile animals can become aggressive if they feel threatened or concerned. No walking after dark. Dangerous predators like lions and leopards are confine to the neighbouring Kruger Park. making not safe to walk at night.
At night you may hear on the bush lodge or spot animals such bush babies, owls and genets, which create a serene and authentic African wilderness experience.
Snakes
It is common in the Park to come across various snake species. If you encounter a snake stay calm and maintain distance. Most snakes will not chase humans and prefer to avoid confrontation, give them space to move away.
If you find a snake in or near our bush lodge, please contact Juan’s rescue centre on 060 665 5000 they are professionals and they will remove and relocate the snake.
Baboons
Please lock all doors and windows, always keep food out of sight and securely stored. Do not feed them. Dispose of all waste and litter. Keep your distance! Baboons can be aggressive, especially when they feel threatened.
